This is one of those sought after properties near Colmenar that will allow you to start your own business in the tourist industry here in Southern Spain. It is a fairly large traditional cortijo in the countryside, fully restored to its former beauty with all the details and character of days gone by. Next to the main house are two separate apartments, each with their own kitchen, bathroom and terrace. One of them is a studio, the other has two separate upstairs bedrooms. This second apartment is connected to the main house through an old doorway, so you can either use it as apartment, or as extra bedrooms for your Bed & Breakfast, or as additional rooms to the main house. See floor plan.

Privacy is not exactly a problem here. The property sits as the last house but one near the end of a track. That last house is being used as a weekend home, so there will be no passing traffic worth mentioning. The swimming pool is located near the edge of the property, enjoying open views over the valley of the upper Axarquía, towards whitewashed villages such as Periana and Comares, and up the mountain peaks of the Sierra de Tejeda Natural Park. The property is surrounded by beautiful mature eucalyptus trees, providing shade and green foliage even during the hot dry summer months.

Inside, it's like stepping into the world of Sheherazade's 1001 nights, with most of the old wooden beams still in place, the suger cane ceilings, the traditional interior blinds and the cast-iron gratings set within the window frames, the myriad of andalucian and moorish tiles on floors and walls, such as the mosaic tiles on the living room floor. Add to that some simple but stylish, very dark-coloured Spanish antique furniture and you'll deem yourself in a different place and age.

Yet all the modern conveniences are present. There is electricity, of course, and mains water. There is a fully fitted kitchen in the main house with a hob and an oven and a double sink, there is an en suite bathroom to the master bedroom with a full-size bath and a large separate shower. The apartments have more basic yet equally effective kitchens and bathrooms.

The property is a few kilometres down the road from Colmenar, also known as the Capital of the Montes de Malaga. This is where you'll find all amenities, such as shops, bars, restaurants, schools, a 24/7 medical centre, public transportation, an internet shop and so on. From Colmenar, the possibilities for things to do are endless. The city of Málaga with its beautiful historic town centre is only a 25 minutes' drive away, as are the international airport and the Mediterranean beaches. Granada or longer drives to Seville, Cordoba or even Portugal are within range.
