Costa del Golf
Imagine
a landscape of sloping hills, strewn with wild olive
trees and prickly pears, where foxes and rabbits play
like cat and mouse. This idyllic scenery is the decor
to six different golf course and is therefore known
as the Valle del Golf, or Golf Valley. It's an
extensive urbanización of villas and greens in
the shadows of pines, palm trees, eucalyptus and other
exotic trees.
Nowadays, well over one third of all Spanish golf courses are to be found along the Costa del Sol, but things haven't always been like this. Up until the late sixties, the only place where one could play golf in Andalucia was the Royal Golf Club of Málaga, founded in 1925. In the seventies, celebrities like actor Sean Connery and soccer-player Kenny Dalglish started frequenting some of the more characteristic clubs, like Las Brisas and Aloha. In their tracks millions of aficionados followed.
There are 34 golf courses in the province of Málaga. We've compiled a list of those with 18 holes or more.
